After 13 years working in Human Resources Management for a variety of companies across the western US, and seven years as a Training Manager for an international training organization, I found myself searching for a way to do more meaningful work than I felt I could do in the corporate world. In autumn 2008 I began the combined Teaching Credential/Master of Education program at Concordia University in Irvine.
After student teaching under a former Orange County Teacher of the Year at Brea Olinda High School, I obtained a single subject teaching credential in Social Science. A year later I added a single subject credential in math (foundational). Working as a substitute teacher for a year was both an invaluable experience and fun.
I was hired by Fountain Valley School District to work at Fulton Middle School for the 2011-2012 school year. I finished my Masters of Education that same school year. Although my original plan was to teach high school, I have found that middle school is truly a perfect fit for my style, and personality. I have been fortunate to be able to work at all 3 middle school grades, and to teach both Social Studies and Math. I also went through the training provided by Orange County Department of Education to become an advisor for the nationally recognized PAL® program (Peer Assistance Leadership), and have been responsible for PAL® at Fulton since 2012.
