8th Grade

Dear FVSD Eighth Grade Families:

We hope that you are doing well during this unique and ever-changing situation.  FVSD remains dedicated to supporting students during school closures by providing Distance Learning Activities.  We understand this is an unsettling time for you and your children, and want to reassure everyone that our entire FVSD staff is committed to continuing to support student learning.

Please know that student work during closures will not be graded, and that our goal is to provide families of middle school students with no more than 30-minutes of learning activities per content area on a daily basis.

Quick Note to Parents/Caregivers:

Every child is at a different level and works at a different pace. Please adjust and modify the work as needed. Learning at home will look different than it does in our classrooms. Most students work best in the morning hours. You may want to create and post a schedule that works well for your family.

Virtual Connecting:

Teachers will be emailing students through Schoolloop for video connecting schedule.

FVSD does not authorize any recording of audio or video, or screen captures of any Distance Learning Activities by students or families.

  • The “reason of insanity” is sometimes used as a defense in a criminal case to argue that the defendant is not responsible for their actions because they have a psychological disorder. If the narrator of this story was in a criminal trial and his lawyer used the insanity defense, do you think he would be found guilty or not guilty for this murder? Make an argument in your ELA journal. Incorporate 1-3 quotes to support your position. You can upload your argument to Google Classroom under the assignment titled “Tuesday, April 21st Activities.”
